SAP Business ByDesign, the cloud based ERP system, has gained roughly 500 new features, and now leverages HANA, SAP's groundbreaking in-memory database technology. In addition, SAP recently updated SAP ByDesign to include SAP Solutions OnDemand Studio, which is extermely interesting.
OnDemand Studio allows channel partners, like Navigator, to write & publish (as we now have several times) cloud application extensions in a secure, controlled cloud framework. These extensions can be deployed to the same cloud environment as SAP ByDesign, so that customers can run both the core system and the ever-growing list of unique extensions that can run together/side-by-side/simulatenously.
For Navigator, and other partners focused on the cloud, this is very intriguing. When typical cloud customers have four more more cloud services (eCommerce, 3PL, EDI, etc), integration issues usually become a top consideration for customers. However, in light of this, Navigator can use frameworks like SAP OnDemand Studio to address integration issues, and build solutions for such.
The addition of SAP OnDemand Studio truly makes SAP Business ByDesign a solution that can work for essentially any company. And that's saying a lot for a cloud-based application, especially with the notion that the majority of cloud products are non-customizable.
