What’s New in SAP Business ByDesign 2608

SAP Business ByDesign 2608 introduces a broad set of enhancements across usability, finance and tax compliance, purchasing, logistics, integrations, mobile, accessibility, and system administration. The August 2026 release is focused largely on making everyday work easier, expanding country-specific compliance capabilities, and improving the way customers integrate, manage, and extract information from Business ByDesign. Improved User Experience and Productivity

One of the most visible additions is a new Notification Bell icon. Users can quickly see incoming Alerts, Tasks, Notifications, and Clarifications, with the five most recent open work items available directly from the bell. A “View All” option opens the complete Work Inbox. The capability can be enabled through Business Configuration.

Business ByDesign 2608 also expands its Microsoft Outlook integration with support for the Outlook Web Add-in in both Classic Outlook and New Outlook. Users can add emails, create service requests, add appointments and tasks, and access settings and help directly through the add-in. SAP notes that appointments and tasks created through the Web Add-in currently appear in Business ByDesign but not Outlook, with that limitation planned to be addressed in a future release.

Additional usability enhancements include better task visibility controls when editing time sheets, restored SAP Support Portal access for key users, improved project attachment change tracking, and several accessibility improvements to screen-reader announcements for buttons, field labels, values, and blank fields.

Expanded Tax and Regulatory Compliance

Tax and regulatory compliance represent one of the largest areas of enhancement in the 2608 release.

For organizations operating in France, Business ByDesign now supports B2B electronic invoicing through SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, Cloud Edition. The functionality includes electronic invoice generation, exchange, validation, status tracking, PEPPOL integration, and XML generation using the UBL 2.3 standard for customer invoices, credit memos, and down payments.

The release also adds French e-reporting capabilities for B2B non-domestic and B2C transactions. Businesses can automatically generate and submit required reports and monitor their submission status. Supported reporting scenarios include French suppliers selling to international customers, French customers purchasing from international suppliers, and payments reporting.

Other country-specific regulatory updates include:

• A 4.9% Austrian VAT rate for essential food items effective July 1, 2026, along with corresponding tax codes and tax return reporting fields.
• Configurable date ranges for China Fully Digitalized Electronic Invoice (FDEI) templates, helping businesses accommodate new template versions without manually modifying files or deploying hotfixes.
• A new VAT and equalization tax event for Spanish SII returns.
• Form 131 replacing Form 16A as the TDS certificate for non-salary income in India.
• Two additional tax fields in the Israel withholding tax file.
• New and updated tax-number types, including Company Number, Company Registration Number, TIN, and “Others.”

Business ByDesign also adds a new Tax Jurisdiction Work Center View for U.S. customers, which can be enabled for users responsible for maintaining taxation regions and resolving postal-code-to-region mismatches.

Financial Management and Banking Enhancements

For banking processes, CAMT53 bank statement processing now displays the exchange rate supplied by the bank at the line-item level for informational purposes. Business Partner Bank details are also updated on bank statement items associated with returned incoming and outgoing payments.

The release improves QR invoice handling in dunning forms by consolidating system-generated and migrated QR invoices into a single table using criteria such as IBAN, currency, and payment attributes. SAP has also expanded the Open Items Receivable migration template with additional QR-invoice fields to support consistent grouping.

Another significant finance enhancement is EUBP audit extraction in General Ledger, available under Controlled Availability. Organizations can extract financial audit data and send it to the DRV government test tool through SAP Document and Reporting Compliance Cloud connectivity, with scheduling, transmission, and submission-status tracking capabilities.

Purchasing, Logistics, and Inventory Improvements

Several enhancements streamline purchasing and inbound logistics. Users can now edit older purchase orders even when the original approver is no longer part of the organization. The system also introduces a Remove Zero Quantity Items action that lets users delete multiple zero-fulfilled-quantity lines at once during goods receipt processing.

Inbound delivery integrations have also been enhanced so that TransportTracking information can be passed through the ManageStandardInboundDeliveryNotificationIn web service. In addition, the External Identified Stock ID can now be displayed directly within Stock Overview.

For manufacturing and migration scenarios, Bill of Materials extraction now includes Consistency Status and Obsolete Status fields, while Kit Item List extraction adds a Status field that can distinguish active and obsolete records and be used as a selection filter.

Integration, Extensibility, and Data Management

The Public Solution Model now exposes Project Start Date and Project Type parameters in the Sales Order Business Object, enabling partners and custom developments to use these parameters when creating project-based sales orders.

Supplier data extraction has also been expanded. The Data Extraction tool can extract Supplier Master Data for both single- and multi-channel scenarios, and the Collaboration Sheet output now includes Email-CC and Email-BCC fields.

Additional technical and administrative improvements include updated Outlook Add-in security libraries, enhanced error messaging for duplicate SSO certificate public keys, preservation of Organizational Unit extension-field values following organizational structure changes, and extended character limits for buyer account names through the ManageODIn inbound service interface.

Mobile, Accessibility, and Support Enhancements

The SAP Business ByDesign mobile application has been updated with newer libraries designed to improve stability across Android and iOS.

Accessibility also receives additional attention in 2608. Screen readers now more clearly identify the Help button and announce field labels, values, and blank fields, making navigation more usable for people relying on assistive technologies.

SAP has also addressed support-related housekeeping following the transition to the new built-in support experience. For affected tenants, cases left in an outdated “In Process – Provider Action” status can be corrected to Completed through a support case.
